You’ll be disapointed.
I just told you that you must do your best do achieve a good receiver. That the transimitting part is not a problem.
The major problem you’ll find in your experiments, after “enetering the next level” should be the oscilator. BFO, VXO, PLL, etc. This is the “guy” who is taking the most of care regarding spurious received or transmitted, frequency stability.
Design of this stages is very important!
